Apartment Model (Crescent Park)
The purpose of this class project was to model my home apartment with accurate geometry and approximate light fixtures. I took field measurements of walls, furniture, etc. The images were enhanced with Photoshop additions.
"Radiance is a suite of programs for the analysis and visualization of lighting in design.
Input files specify the scene geometry, materials, luminaires, time, date and sky conditions (for daylight calculations). Calculated values include spectral radiance (ie. luminance + color), irradiance (illuminance + color) and glare indices. Simulation results may be displayed as color images, numerical values and contour plots.
The primary advantage of Radiance over simpler lighting calculation and rendering tools is that there are no limitations on the geometry or the materials that may be simulated. Radiance is used by architects and engineers to predict illumination, visual quality and appearance of innovative design spaces, and by researchers to evaluate new lighting and daylighting technologies. Radiance is UNIX software." — Lawrence Berekeley Labs

Statue of Liberty Lighting Visualization
The purpose of this class project was to re-create the lighting design on the Statue of Liberty. Dynamic lighting was encouraged, so I experimented with how the design might change over the course of the year with holidays.
I utilized a model from the SketchUp Warehouse and imported it into Radiance. An aerial image was imported as well. True IES values for various high-power spotlights were used.
Apartment Model (Meadow Park)
The purpose of this class project was to model my home apartment with the actual geometry and photometrics. I took field measurements of walls, furniture, etc as well as the light sources using a photometer.
